Originally founded in the early 90's as the town's first working class neighborhood, it's proximity to downtown and the beach, combined with its many small stores and restaurants make a pleasant, convenient place to live. Because of its working-class origins, prices are very low for this close to the beach; but the transformation is already beginning – shops that sell items like homemade Italian pasta, quaint specialty restaurants and pizza shops with unique atmospheres, and a decent supply of very well-built Playa del Carmen homes for sale that are just in need of a little loving touch to turn them into a dream home near the beach, are all beginning to capture the attention of a handful of expat investors and homeowners.
What's more, the community is very quiet, relaxed and peaceful.
